  • Live online and in person

At a glance

Who it’s for

Engineers with the listed foundations who want to deepen this skill or apply it in a different stack.

Starting point: Intermediate

Bring these foundations

  • JavaScript or TypeScript; Vue experience for component exercises.
Foundation sessions can be included when needed.

Technologies & tools

  • Vitest
  • JavaScript / TypeScript
  • Vue.js
  • Vite
Setup and versions agreed for your environment.

A practical destination

Skills to practise.

The sample path works towards these capabilities. Final goals reflect your team’s starting point and agreed scope.

  1. 01

Build focused tests for JavaScript or TypeScript behaviour.

  2. 02

Control module dependencies and asynchronous conditions.

  3. 03

Test Vue components and maintain a useful regression suite.

Sample curriculum

Follow the learning route.

Each module connects the concepts to practical work. Open a module to explore both.

01Module 1

Test foundations

Concepts to understand

  • Configuration and test organization
  • Assertions and useful test cases
  • Fixtures and setup cleanup

Practical work

Configure a small suite and test a function with representative inputs. Explain fixture setup and cleanup.

Show the result. Explain one decision. Identify what you would improve.
02Module 2

Application logic

Concepts to understand

  • Testing functions and modules
  • Mocks, spies, and controlled dependencies
  • Async code and error cases

Practical work

Test asynchronous logic with controlled dependencies, spies or mocks. Demonstrate success and failure paths.

Show the result. Explain one decision. Identify what you would improve.
03Module 3

Vue component behavior

Concepts to understand

  • Rendering and user interactions
  • Props, events, and composables
  • State and API boundaries

Practical work

Render a Vue feature and test props, events and user interaction. Identify which behaviour belongs in component or composable tests.

Show the result. Explain one decision. Identify what you would improve.
04Module 4

Maintaining quality

Concepts to understand

  • Coverage and regression testing
  • Watch workflows and debugging
  • CI execution and project review

Practical work

Add a regression check, inspect coverage without treating it as the goal and connect the suite to CI.

Show the result. Explain one decision. Identify what you would improve.

A sample project

Bring the skills together.

Add unit and component tests to a Vue feature, including asynchronous behavior and a regression case.

Shorter engagements can focus on selected exercises. A larger, learner-owned capstone can be scoped for a longer programme.

Review the work & reasoning

Four useful questions.

  1. 01

Does the work meet the agreed requirements?

  2. 02

Can the learner explain the key decisions and trade-offs?

  3. 03

What happens with invalid input, failure or an unexpected condition?

  4. 04

What would they change or explore next?
